Light on Blue Vase

This was a study of how light hits a flower arrangement resulting in a warm glow on a dark background.  Oil on board, 10"x12", still life. 

Honey Crisp and Spatula

I enjoyed studying the white fabric which looks especially realistic against the dark background.  In person, the fabric looks like it jumps off the canvas.  The apple was fun and painting fruits and vegetables is always a challenge and is satisfying.

Blue Coffee Cup and Tangerine

I am beginning to really enjoy these small still life sketches!  Oil on board. 6"x8". The reflections always are fun and my favorite coffee cup complete with a chip in it is satisfying to paint

Ebony Carving

I picked up a native carved ebony wood animal figure, I suppose it is a gazelle, while travelling to Africa. The wood figure is heavy, hard and has a dull shine--simply beautiful.  I paired this with a hand thrown cookie jar that I bought in Kentucky and situated some Cuties and a beautiful red onion on my art table for an interesting composition in oil on board.

Yellow Pepper

A large still life of several peppers. I like the contrast between the dark greenish background and the yellow pepper. This oil painting is on stretched canvas and measures 16"x20".

I bought a hand-painted and lacquered wooden bowl when I worked in the Far East Russia a while back.  It is a luminous gold inside with a high gloss black finish on the exterior.  Really a work of art! The red onions are fun to paint and the challenge here was depicting the loose paper-thin skin peeling back and casting a shadow.  Oil, 6'x8", $60 + s/h $5. If interested, email fragman56@yahoo.com.
